GridTerm is a multi-terminal workspace for developers. It lets you run multiple terminals side by side in grid layouts (1x1 through 3x3), with a built-in file browser, code editor, notes, global search, and screenshot capture. It's built for developers who use AI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, and Aider.
GridTerm is available for Windows 10/11 (x64) and macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon). Both platforms get the same features, auto-updates, and are code-signed.
GridTerm is a one-time purchase of $67. No subscriptions, no recurring fees. You get lifetime updates for both Windows and macOS. There's a 7-day full refund policy — contact hello@gridterm.com if you're not satisfied.
There's no free trial, but there is a 7-day full refund policy. If GridTerm doesn't work for your workflow, email hello@gridterm.com within 7 days for a complete refund.
Any terminal-based AI coding agent works with GridTerm. This includes Claude Code (Anthropic), OpenAI Codex, Aider, Open Code, and any other CLI tool that runs in a terminal. GridTerm is a terminal — if it runs in a shell, it runs in GridTerm.
tmux is a terminal multiplexer that runs inside your existing terminal via keyboard shortcuts. GridTerm is a GUI application with one-click grid layouts, a built-in file browser and code editor, screenshot capture, and workspace management. tmux is better for remote SSH sessions. GridTerm is better for local development with AI agents. See our full comparison at /blog/gridterm-vs-tmux.
The largest preset grid is 3x3 (9 terminals). You can also split any terminal horizontally or vertically to create custom layouts. The practical limit depends on your screen size and system resources.
AI coding agents like Claude Code accept images as input. GridTerm's screenshot feature lets you capture any region of your screen with a hotkey, then paste it directly into a terminal with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on macOS). This takes 2 seconds instead of 30+ seconds with a separate screenshot tool.
Workspaces save your entire terminal layout — grid size, terminal positions, starting directories, and auto-run commands. Load a workspace to restore your full development environment in one click. Create separate workspaces for different projects.
Yes. GridTerm checks for updates on startup and installs them automatically when you quit. Both Windows and macOS updates are code-signed and verified.
GridTerm includes a tabbed code editor powered by CodeMirror 6 with syntax highlighting for most programming languages. It's designed for quick file inspection and editing — not a full IDE replacement. You can Ctrl+click file paths in terminal output to open them directly.
